Our afternoon in Ballard was nice and quiet, we walked down to the boat locks and watched as they raised some boats to pass from one body to the next. Then we wandered back into the neighborhood center, had some lunch and returned to Queen Anne.
On Tuesday we managed to make our Amtrak train, the Coast Starlight 11 on time on a clear, sunny morning. As we wiggled along the I-5 corridor, we made several stops in small and large towns like Centralia and Portland before climbing into the Cascade pass, eventually finding our way into California and then closer to the bay through towns like Marinez and Pinole. It was odd to travel so far through so much rural landscape and and then end the trip by passing by a massive trash pile in PInole, a slight signature of mankind's waste sprinkled on the outskirts of the bay. I may have to go to Los Angeles at the end of the month and I am even considering the second leg of the Coast Starlight when doing so.
Anyway, we're back home now and all is normal in SF. Today I am going to contniue to restore the old Schwinn that Ferris gave me and maybe do some leftover site work for friends.

Wha-wha-what the shit is this? I think it would be fantastic if folks had routers strung from their toilets across the land. Glad to see Google can still have a sense of humor.
Crow was wondeful last night with a suprise twist desert that consisted of Guinness ice cream with caramel and brownies that came with a small shot of Jameson to pour over top and eat (I just drank the Jameson though, bad habit) was the "over the top" aspect that we hope for when dining there. For some reason I feel like I have had Guinness ice cream before, but never quite like that.
Today is somewhat gray and cold up here, but I think we are going to make our way over to the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard shortly to wander around, grab some lunch and maybe even see a movie.

Dara and I are up in Seattle for the weekend. We'll be taking a train home on Tuesday which is supposed to take 23 hours, but from what I have been hearing, it may be subject to several delays. While we are here Petey is staying with his trusty companion and neighborhood dog walker.
Tonight we're off to Crow for dinner, where we have eaten once before and been hoping to return to ever since.
If you've been here before then you might notice that this is a somewhat new version of the site. I got a bit inspired to put something up after my friend Steve made a fancy new logo for me. I've also added this interesting new keywording bit so that I can associate images with keywords and they get linked into context like the reference to Petey. It should be interesting to see how this works if/when there's a lot of content in here.
If you are for some reason missing the abstract clock that was here for the past several months, don't worry... I will add it back into the site somewhere soon.
